Basement Finishing - How We Fixed the Stairs and Upgraded the Basement Floor

This basement staircase didn’t have enough headroom because of a low ceiling. To solve it, our team recessed the ceiling above the stairs, giving the homeowners much more comfortable clearance coming down.

We finished the space with stained caps on the half walls, a matching handrail, and carried luxury vinyl tile all the way up the stairs. The staggered joints create a clean, finished look — and because it’s completely waterproof with a rubber backing, it’s perfect for basement spaces.
